Present at the Global Piscine 2026 exhibition HALL 4, BOOTH D160, Unicum has more than 20 years of experience in the swimming pool market. The French manufacturer, whose R&D and production plant are located near Saint-Etienne (42), is continuing to develop its motorization solutions for the different types of pool covers.
After ABRIMOT SD, designed for mobile pool enclosures and decks, the company is now enriching its offer with UNIBOX SOLAR, a universal controller that powers the brand’s motors on batteries.
Over the years, Unicum has developed a range of geared motors to meet the needs of many applications: bubble covers, automatic safety covers, thermal covers for public swimming pools, mobile decks, movable floors and pool enclosures.
ABRIMOT SD, at the origin of solar and connected developments
Presented three years ago, ABRIMOT SD, a solution dedicated to pool enclosures, has led Unicum to integrate solar technology into its developments.
This “all-in-one” motor, which is integrated into the awning or retractable patio cover, is battery-powered to eliminate the need for electrical cables that move along with the awning. Its electronic circuit board has been optimized to minimize energy consumption as much as possible when the motor is not in use.
The battery is recharged through a built-in compact solar panel, combined with charge control features.
The development of ABRIMOT SD has also enabled Unicum to develop a Bluetooth communication protocol. This allows the various engine functions to be controlled from a dedicated application, the interface of which can be customised, on request, with the customer’s logo.
Bluetooth connectivity extended to other pool equipment
Based on this technology, Unicum has developed a remote Bluetooth receiver as well as a line of IP20 and IP68 remote controls.
The system can be connected to the power boxes of various pool equipment, whether it is a cover, lighting, a fountain or a counter-current swimming system.
The objective is to extend the connected functionalities initially developed for ABRIMOT SD to a wider range of applications around swimming pools.
UNIBOX SOLAR: up to 360 W of battery power
With UNIBOX SOLAR, Unicum is also transferring its experience in solar energy management to the other engines in its range.
This new universal controller is designed to power all Unicum motors on battery. Its electronic board can provide a maximum power of 360 W, in order to also support the most powerful motors.
The software has been optimized to reduce standby power consumption. When the motor is not in use, standby power consumption is only 0.4 mAh. The board also offers the option of connecting both a solar panel and an external charger.
The main features already available on the UNIBOX range, including anti-snatching function and amperometric control, remain integrated into this new solution.
A more flexible and safer electrical installation around the pool
UNIBOX SOLAR can also be powered by a 24 V source, via an AC/DC converter that can be installed remotely from the board and the cover.
This configuration aims to simplify wiring and reduce its cost. This feature also makes it possible to meet the ban on single-phase voltage around the pool. In particular, it makes the solution suitable for mobile covers, such as bench-mounted covers, as well as for different configurations of above-ground covers.
With the joint development of solar power solutions and connected object technologies, Unicum is continuing to evolve its motorization and electronics offer and consolidating its position as a leading technological equipment manufacturer for the motorization of all pool cover types.
