Unicum was founded in 1927. As technological and industrial developments progressed, the factory, still based in Saint Etienne (France) launched a trading activity to distribute numerous power transmission products and systems of European origin in France. In the early 90s, this activity led to the discovery of a German manufacturer of geared motors with integrated limit switches. This was to prove a decisive turning point for the company.
After distributing and developing numerous versions of above-ground and pit-mounted motors, the first tubular gearmotors were developed in the early 2000s.
In just a few years, UNICUM has become the benchmark in the pool cover motor gearbox market.
Today, it is the only company in the world able to offer a motorization solution for every type of cover.
